The Kava/Kratom community is like a small town dispersed within a much larger town. Almost everyone who regularly attends Kava crawls, or anyone who has their "usual spot" knows each other - or is barely one degree removed. I can walk into any Kratom bar in Pinellas, and there's an extremely likely chance I can point to any attendee and identify a mutual friend we have in common (if it isn't just already a friend or acquaintance I've made at a previous bar.) Because of this homogeneity within the community, most Kava/Kratom spots have a very similar vibe; rather than being a place of raucous late-night fun, Kava bars have closer to a coffee shop vibe - lower light, cerebral music, and a generally more relaxed atmosphere overall.
While you can trust every Kava/Kratom shop to have a chilled-out environment, All 5 Elements takes it to another level, going above and beyond to deliver an ideal botanical experience, while also including some aspects unique unto itself. "All 5", as I like to call it, bills itself as a Metaphysical Shop as well as a Botanical Tea Cafe; the gentle scent of incense dances through the air, calming but not overwhelming all patrons who enter - and if you like it, you can buy it! In fact the shop is absolutely chock full of pictures, crystals, incense, books on meditation and centering the self, all of it dotted with little neon price stickers. Comfortable clothing and merch hang above dreamcatchers and salt rocks and candles of all sorts; icons and pipes share shelf space, giving the shop an eccentric appearance, like the personal museums of Victorian nobility or the eclectic personal collection of your favorite artsy uncle.
For whatever reason, typically where you find Kratom being brewed and sold, you will find Kava as well. Both originate in Southeast Asia, and both carry similar vibes - relaxing, almost meditative teas rapidly growing in popularity as more and more people reject alcohol as the sole social lubricant and opt for a different experience. However, All 5 Elements has a wider variety of beverages and products than I have ever seen at a botanical cafe. They compliment their Kava and Kratom with teas such as Blue Lotus tea, an ancient tea enjoyed as far back as the time of the Pharaohs! They've got Damiana, Rhodiola, Lavender and other herbal teas; they've got Chai Tea, Thai Tea, and everything in between! Then there are the specials.
If Kava has one universal claim made about it, it's that Kava tastes like mouth-numbing mud; the muddiness is embraced, tongue-in-cheek, by many, and the Kava version of drunk is even called being "muddy". However, All 5 Elements makes sure to address this by actually having tasty Kava mixes - something like Tropikava, which includes coconut and other flavors to mellow out the mud, or Donkey Kong, which takes Tropikava and adds bananas and protein powder, creating a substantial elixir of power. The daily drink specials also do something new that I haven't seen at any Kava bar; though some days are just flat discounts for certain products (50% off Kratom on Mondays during "Monday Madness", for example) other days have a distinct purpose or theme. Warrior Wednesday offers a mid-week energy boost by offering BOGO Coffee or White Kratom; Thinker Thursday caters to the readers among us, allowing a 50% discount off your first drink if you bring in a book to read. This alone excites me and is a big motivating factor for why I'm even writing this testimonial in the first place. Any incentive offered that enhances literacy and spreads awareness of the joys of reading is met with favor anywhere I see it. All 5 Elements is deeply committed to providing an open, accepting environment to anyone who might enjoy or benefit from these botanical products. Chris Flanders, the owner, has on more than one occasion expressed to me his desire for people to "be more human", in his words; in today's polarized, cliquish political and social climate, this is a noble goal and a breath of fresh air, as far as I'm concerned.
